Social Anxiety
What it looks like:
You have a strong fear of social situations and interactions, particularly around being negatively perceived or rejected. Social experiences that could be enjoyed become experiences that are endured or avoided all together. In addition to anxiety symptoms, social anxiety often triggers feelings of loneliness, isolation, and depression.
How I Help:
Similar to treating other anxiety disorders, we work together to differentiate between functional and unproductive anxiety in social settings, identify and challenge beliefs that enhance your social anxiety, build skills to tolerate the anxiety, and put yourself in social situations to build confidence in interacting with others and desensitize you to the discomfort of the social anxiety.
